The dune area at Klein Vaarwater on Ameland formed the backdrop for a mountain bike race on Saturday afternoon, in which more than two kilometers were also ridden on the beach at Buren. Rozanne Slik (Heerenveen) came to the finish solo, but she had to battle for the victory.
“From the start I was in the lead with Lola Bakker and we were evenly matched so that it became a real battle. With a lap and a half to go I managed to distance myself from her and finally cross the finish line solo. I have now won here three times in a row and I like to come back to this great event next year.’, says Slik.
