Tim Smeenge wins the Kellerwald marathon

In Gilserberg, Germany, Tim Smeenge crossed the line today after 127 kilometers as the winner of the Kellerwald marathon. The Belgian Joris Massaer took second place ahead of the German Peter Herman. Smeenge’s teammate Ramses Bekkenk finished 6th and second in Master 40+. Rozanne Slik was unfortunately involved in a crash early in the race and did not make it to the finish.

“The conditions were good today, but half way through the race a rain shower caused a slippery top layer. I didn’t do too crazy the first two laps and in the third lap I also managed to leave my last competitor Joris Massaer behind me and finished solo. The shape is now good again after I came back sick from the Cape Epic. In the coming weeks I have several great races on the program in preparation for the four-day stage race BEMC from 18 to 21 May.’, says Smeenge.
