Karen Brouwer and Cemile Trommer were the fastetst ladies in the 13 kilometers long prologue of the 4 Islands MTB stage race in Croatia. Coming days they will ride four stages on several Islands in the start villages Krk, Rab, Cres and Losinj. For Brouwer and Trommer it was their first race together after their victory in the Cape Pioneer Trek in Oktober 2018.
‘As I have not done so many races this year I was a bit nervous before the start. Luckily I found the right pace from the start and I took the lead in the technical sections. On the fast parts of the course Cemile took the lead and rode really strong! Great to start with a victory and to ride in the leaders jersey tomorrow.’, stated Brouwer.
Teammates Gerben Mos and Roel Verhoeven had a solid start of the Andalucia Bike Race finishing 17th and 24th in the prologue behind winner Hans Becking yesterday. Today the first stage counted 75 kilometers in which Verhoeven (12th) just beated Mos (13th) . In the general classification Mos is ranked at 14th position and Verhoeven at 17th.
