From the early start Karen Brouwer was not feeling confident at the German mountainbike marathon in Willingen. ‘I was not able to dig deep and lacked fierceness. My plan was to go for the long distance this year but during the race I decided to take mid distance. German Sarah Reiniers took the victory and Hielke Elferink finished third behind Brouwer.
KMC-Fruit to Go teammates Gerben Mos and Ramses Bekkenk were not able to follow the early leaders in their race over 118 kilometers. By working well together and keep their own pace at the right moments during the race they finished at a solid eight and ninth place behind winner Urs Huber. Ramses his eight place meant he also finished as first Master 40+.
