Gerben Mos finishes second in Drenthe 200

It was an early wake up thursday morning for Gerben Mos. With more than over 1600 fellow offroad riders at at six in the morning he started in Roden for his second participation in ‘Drenthe 200’. A fast first part of the course brought Mos in the lead with his teammate Ramses Bekkenk and last years winner Bas Peters. Working well together they managed to gain a comfortable lead on the chasing group. Unfortunately Bekkenk could not keep up any more between Dwingeloo and Appelscha and a combination of rain and a temperature around zero made him decide to quit the race after 150 of the 200 kilometers.

‘Pretty soon after the first offroad sections we were in the lead with the three of us. It looked like a branch of a tree which got stuck in my rear deailleur was going to spoil my party but after I removed it I managed to catch up with Ramses and Bas again. We worked well together but unfortunately we rode a bit to fast for Ramses. Just like last year Bas appeared to be the strongest in the last mud section and my dream to win the race was over.’, stated a cold grown Mos after the finish line.
