Brouwer-Trommer leading, Mos-Smeenge just missed the podium in Cape Pioneer Trek

The fast first stage on Monday over 101 kilometers in Mosselbay led the bikers to nature reserve Gondwana. Unfortunately no animals from the Big 5 were spotted but the giraffes showed up once again. The riders also met a stormy wind in the open fields above Mosselbay. KMC-Focus duo Brouwer-Trommer rode a strong race in which they nearly missed the victory but took the pink leadersjersey. Mos and Smeenge had a strong day as well and finished fourth.

Today the second stage over 114 kilometers went from Mosselbay to George and Mos and Smeenge were part of leading group for a long time. Finally they finished fifth and are ranked at fourth place in the general classification. Brouwer and Trommer had a good day out in the saddle with a stage win and increasing their lead in general classification on the numbers two and three. ‘I had really good legs today where I suffered yesterday in the last hour of the stage. In the last part of today’s stage some great trails lead us to George. Tomorrow we will ride our time trial in that same area.’, stated Brouwer.
