‘Starting in George both leading duo’s escaped on the Montague Pass but the gap was never that big. In the Klein Karoo we managed to catch them but after a while we had to let them go. After the last feed zone we joined up again with the leaders. Unfortunately I made a small crash with two kilometers to go but managed to get back. At a last pass through a fence Matthew Beers managed to overtake Gerben and the stage win was gone. Really a shame but there a still two chances left.’, stated Rood.
